Prince Royce and Romeo Santos debut on Billboard’s Social 50
Launched in December 2011, The Billboard Social 50 ranks the most engaging music artists on social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Vevo, SoundCloud, MySpace and Instagram. The ranks are determined by addition of fans, friends and followers, artist website views, song plays and comments. The ranks are complied and measured by music analytics company, Next Big Sound, and the listings are published by the Billboard Magazine.
The first artist to reach the number one slot was Barbadian singer Rihanna.
Recently, Social 50 welcomed two newcomers from Latin America to occupy their prestigious slots- Prince Royce and Romeo Santos.
Prince Royce entered at the 17th spot. Royce’s third album “Soy El Mismo” debuts No.1 on the Top Latin Songs chart, and has produced a great deal of commotion among fans. Royce has added 461,000 fans to his Facebook page, and the rise in his popularity has also assisted in the rise of his smash single “Darte Un Beso”, which has claimed the top spot on the Hot Latin Songs chart and Latin Streaming Songs.

Thanks to his appearance on “Sesame Street”, Romeo Santos bagged the 18th position. The iconic children’s show uploaded a video of him cheering a dejected Elmo with the song “Quiero Ser Tu Amigo”, meaning “I want to be your friend”, and drew 196,000 global views.. This led to a 129% engagement on Santos’ Facebook page. He has added 429,000 fans.

Here’s also a quick look at the top 5: Taylor Swift moved up to spot 4 from 11 thanks to increased traffic on her YouTube channel, after she posted a video compilation of her last three shows of her North American Red tour. Miley Cyrus remains at No.1, while Britney Spears knocked out Kate Perry for the No. 2 position. Rihanna climbed up to the 5th position thanks to her “pour it up” video. We congratulate both Prince Royce and Romeo Santos for this great accomplishment. .
