Rhythm Is Gonna Get You
Gloria María Milagrosa Fajardo García de Estefan, known to the public as Gloria Estefan is the one of the world’s best selling artists of all time. She received seven Grammy awards for the best Latin singer who became successful abroad. Her singing career started in 1977, collaborating with Miami Sound Machine, under the Audiofon Records label. In that group she met her future husband, Emilio Estefan. In 1977 released the first album, entitled “Live again/ Renacer”. Starting with 1978, Gloria started the collaboration with Discos CBS International. 1985 was the year of the “Conga” hit, followed by other two Top 10 hits: “Words get in the way” and “Bad boy”. The same year signified the release of “Hot Summer Nights”, the song included in the “Top Gun” movie soundtrack.
“Let it loose”, her 1987 album, was sold in three million copies and featured hits as: “Anything for you”, “1-2-3”, “Rhythm is gonna get you”, “Can’t stay away from you”. In 1989 Gloria Estefan became a solo artist and released her best selling album “Cuts Both Ways”. Two of the album songs were number one hits in Billboard Hot 100: “Don’t wanna lose you” and “Cuts Both Ways”.
“Gloria Estefan Greatest Hits” was released in 1992, followed by “Mi Tierra” in 1993. The album was sold in eight million copies worldwide and won a Grammy award for The Best Tropical Latin Album. Her success continued album after album and also through her film and television appearances. Gloria had the chance to act together with her husband in “Marley and me” – 2008. She started writing children books and her first release was in 2005, “The Magically Mysterious Adventures of Noelle the Bulldog” and in 2006 “Noelle’s Treasure Tale” . The latter hit number 3 on the New York Times Bestseller. In 2008, together with her husband, Gloria released a recipee book, including traditional Cuban food.
In 2009, Estefan announced her “farewell tour” and re-released three albums with Miami Sound Machine in Japan. In 2013, the album “The Standards” featured collaborations with Laura Pausini, Dave Koz and Joshua Bell. The album succeeded number 20 on the US Billboard 200.
In 2014 Japan Sony music re-released Greatest Hits Vol. 2. During the “Power of Love Event for Keep Memory Alive” at Las Vegas, Gloria and her husband were honoured by artists as Ricky Martin, Rita Moreno or Carole King who sang Gloria’s songs, as a tribute to her. Also, in 2014, Estefan joined Carlos Santana in the song entitled “Besos de lejos”.
Gloria Estefan and her husband received a star in the “Walk of Stars” in Las Vegas, thanks to their contribution to the world music.
