Joe Veras: Renewing the tastes of Dominican Bachata
Born to a rural family of thirteen children, the son of Sotero Veras and Maria, started dabbling in music at a very early age in the Dominican Republic. Playing the electronic acoustic guitar and dressing in trendy city clothes, Joe Veras embarked on an artistic career right after college, and released his debut production “With Love” in 1993, which gained public popularity among Bachata lovers. His 1995 hit single “With More Love” won him The Casandra Award in 1997, and went on to sell over 300,000 copies in the city of New York.
With the release of his eighth album “Letter of Summer”, Joe Veras took Bachata to Europe and the Caribbean Islands, becoming an international singing sensation, and one of the most popular Bachateros of the Dominican Republic.
A recipient of many global music awards and accolades, Joe Veras’ passionate exuberance in all his compositions has made him a leading Bachata artist, who has made an impact on the international music stage. Joe’s soulful crooning and emotion infused songs have captured the hearts of Latin Americans worldwide, thereby taking Bachata romance to another level.
